For 40 years the Waikiki Yacht Club has been the home of the Honolulu Sail and Power Squadron, a unit of the U.S. Power Squadrons (USPS). To promote safe boating the USPS offers a variety of boating classes for novice and seasoned boaters through its Educational Program.

Squadron members, many of whom are WYC members, teach basic boating courses that are open to the public. Advanced boating courses, offered to those who join the squadron, include: seamanship, piloting, sailing, cruising, marine weather, engine maintenance, marine electronics, and advanced piloting.
